The Centre was founded in 1995 as an online resource to make available to theatre practitioners the knowledge of Michael Chekhov’s approach to acting in order to strengthen their creative freedom and versatility.
Aims and Objectives
• to encourage, develop, and research the approach to acting and theatre created by Michael Chekhov in teaching and production
• to develop materials and support workshops, seminars and lectures on
Michael Chekhov’s creative legacy, and to broaden the understanding
of his work in the professional theatre
• to facilitate academic research and publication, and to create an archive relating to Michael Chekhov
• to create a vibrant basis for the pursuit of the theatre of the future
as inspired by Michael Chekhov
