Michael Chekhov UK is a network of artists who are inspired by and working in a variety of ways with the ideas of the Russian actor, director and teacher, Michael Chekhov (1891-1955).

We are interested in Chekhov’s primary idea that not only is the actor an artist, but that the actor is the theatre: the actor’s craft is at the heart of the creative process.

Chekhov’s ideas on imagination and collective practice inspire us to investigate how we want to work, live, collaborate, create, relate to the world and develop as artists and as people. The aim of our network is to provide a hub for those who are also passionate about these principles and wish actively to explore them.
